Overview |
|
The generous
lounge provides lots of space for everyone. You are only 1 mile
from Campbeltown Airport where flybe.com fly twin otter 18
seater planes from Glasgow International airport.(only 2 flights
a day) and 4 miles from Campbeltown itself, which has all the
facilities you would require including shopping, swimming pool,
cinema and eateries. The area is steeped in history, at Southend
St Columbia first landed in Scotland (AD563) and the old
Campbeltown cross dates back to 1380. From the harbour, Davaar
Island can be seen and you can walk out to it at low tide (if
you are brave enough!) along the mile long causeway. Campbeltown
is more recently known for its wonderful golf courses,
Springbank Malt Whisky, annual Music Festival (August) and award
winning pipe band. You are only a few miles from Machrihanish,
the 18 hole golf course here is one of the "Great Scottish Links
Collection" and its first hole requires the opening shot to
carry over the Atlantic! The newest one Machrihanish dunes,
opening in July 2009 is a 15 minute stroll from the house,
making this area a golfers paradise.A further 15 minute stroll
takes you to the magnificent beach stretching from Westport to
Machrihanish village. For walking enthusiasts the Kintyre Way
provides a great long distance walk (87 miles) from Tarbert in
the north to Danaverty Bay in the south. The close proximity to
the sea gives lots of opportunities for coastal walks, boat
trips, otter spotting, sea angling, surfing, ideal conditions
for kite flying and very tasty locally caught seafood. |
